Kingfisher feeding on the River Camel

Wildlife holiday at Butterwell Farm Cornwall

We are so lucky at Butterwell to have some incredible wildlife right on our doorstep. We have a 2 mile stretch of the River Camel and this year we were paid a visit from local wildlife photographer, Adrian Langdon. Adrian has an incredible portfolio and regularly posts his Cornish Wildlife photos on his wildlife blog and his Facebook page.

Earlier this spring / early summer Adrian set up his hide in the middle of our river and captured some incredible images of a breeding pair of Kingfisher and their brood.  The pair eventually had two broods and Adrian witnessed the youngsters fledging.

Whilst on the river Adrian also captured juvenile dippers, the greater spotted woodpecker, the grey wagtail and some passing mallards.

We are so lucky at Butterwell Farm to have our own private 40-acre nature reserve which we aim to manage as sympathetically and as sustainably as possible for our native wildlife and for our guests to enjoy.
