“Very good for fly fishing, peaceful setting. Nanstallon is a great little village on the Camel River, great for fly fishing at Butterwell Farm. A peaceful site, good dog walks by the river, the Camel Trail is also very nearby. Camel Valley Vineyard is just over the river [possibly worth a drive] but could be walked. Bodmin is about 3 miles away and Wadebridge around 5 miles. Padstow, Eden project, and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are within easy reach. But please, pack a fly rod for the most relaxing days.”

“Peaceful and tranquil. We have left our hearts in Cornwall!! What an amazing week we have had. Thank you so much to Rachel & Sam for being such great hosts (including a trip to the post office). This is such a gorgeous, romantic cottage with everything you could possibly need. The location was perfect as we were able to walk from their esate straight onto the Camel Trail & walk for miles with the dogs, they had a great time! We also spent time in Padstow, Rock, Tintagel & The Lost Gardens of Heligan. (Everywhere is so dog friendly) All in easy reach from Cobnuts. We would highly recommend this stay & we would love to return!”

“A wonderful escape. This was our first break in a very long time and we are delighted to have chosen Butterwell Farm as our staycation destination. We wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life in the city and we were not disappointed. On arrival we were greeted by a quaint little cottage – Cobnuts, with an enclosed garden, ideal for our pup – another bonus to staying at Butterwell Farm, it was dog friendly. The open plan layout inside was perfect and the views from the property were just what we envisioned. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by bird song and the sound of the river nearby. We thought we may have spotted a kingfisher but we discovered after a quick search on google the bush in the front yard was home to a family of Nuthatch. We had everything we needed in the property and I loved the small touches such as the loo roll – I found it quite amusing 🙂 The log burning fire was the focal point in the evenings, the sound of the wood crackling and burning as well as the ambient lighting created the perfect cosy cottage environment. The Camel Trail is not far at all from the cottage but I would definitely recommend doing this on bikes as we only managed a few hours on foot. This was the most relaxed me and my husband have been for a very long time and cannot wait to return – hopefully in the summer when the weather is a little less wet and we have our bikes.”

The information pack was great and we were armed with a comprehensive list of dog friendly beaches to explore.”

“The location is beautiful and quiet, right on the Camel River. You can walk straight through the Estate onto the Camel Trail giving access to the Camel Valley Vineyard. There is also a garden cafe and a good pub if you head towards Bodmin on the trail. Great for cyclists. You can access beach walks by car which are great for dog walks. The property was clean and tidy, warm and welcoming and well stocked. The bed was very comfortable. Sam and Rachel were wonderful hosts.”

“Perfect Cornish cottage in beautiful setting. Our second stay at Butterwell Farm and Cobnuts is a super cute, comfortable, clean, well-equipped cottage for two (plus doggy friends) in the beautiful Camel Valley. It has lovely private, enclosed (dog-proof) garden areas with views down the wooded valley and across the river to the Camel Valley Vineyard. A great central base for exploring Cornwall or just chilling in the glorious surroundings and enjoying the local flora and fauna. Would highly recommend and we will be returning again soon!“

“We had a very enjoyable stay at Butterwell Farm and really loved Cobnuts! The cottage was lovely and clean and had everything we could have wanted along with some very useful information. Before driving home we had a great breakfast at Strong Adolfos so thank you for the recommendation!“

“A great little cottage in a very pretty setting near the river. Perfect for a few nights stay. Easy to walk the dog. Very comfy bed! We needed a little bed for our 3 yr old and Rachel and Sam accommodated with a lovely set up, perfect for our stay.”

“We stayed at Kingfisher Cabin in July 2019. It wasn’t available for our visit this year, so we booked Cobnuts. We liked it even more than Kingfisher Cabin, which was fantastic! My partner had a great time fishing for sea trout, whilst I relaxed in our cosy surroundings. The four-poster super king size bed and pillows were outstandingly comfortable. I felt fresh and revived on waking each morning. It was the best sleep I have had in years. I wanted to take the bed and pillows home with me. Thank you Sam and Rachel for another wonderful stay!”
Helen, stayed August 2021 *****
“Peaceful and tranquil. We have been to Butterwell farm 5 times, we have stayed at Buzzard barn and Cobnuts. Our last visit was at Cobnuts. We absolutely love it here. As soon as we get out of the car stresses just drift away. We love a walk by the river, we saw at least 6 trout this time. A great place to fish. They are COVID aware, everything is clean and spotless. We had a visit twice a day from mrs hornet and a lovely field mouse, outside of course. The garden is beautiful. if you need to contact the owners they answer straight away. We had a power cut whilst there , Rachel kept us informed, it was the fault of the power company. Only out for a couple of hours so no problem. If you want a peaceful secluded hideaway this is the place for you.”

“An absolutely gorgeous location and amazing private access to the Camel Trail from the cottage. The estate was beautiful to walk around in the evening and it was super special to spot lots of wildlife down by the river. The cottage was lovely and very clean with an amazing log burner and good storage for our bikes. Directions to get to the cottage were very accurate and we got there without any issues. A lovely place and would not hesitate to stay here again. Thanks, Sam and Rachel!”

“Easily the best Airbnb we have ever stayed in. The cottage has everything you will need (including a fire), and set in the most amazing location with the river, farm animals roaming, winery and tea rooms in walking distance. A great base to explore all that Cornwall has to offer, with some great recommendations from Rachel & Sam. Will definitely look to come back.”

“We stayed in Cobnuts at Butterwell, Rachel and Sam have been quick to respond to correspondence, and very helpful as we’ve had to re arrange twice due to Covid. But we got there and have had a perfect week. Instructions for everything from check in to departure all very clear. Everything in the cottage clean plus one of the most comfy beds I’ve ever slept in. We lit the wood burner each evening and had a plentiful supply of wood. Walks up to the Camel Trail easy, and everywhere we wanted to see was only a short car journey. All in all a fab few days, Butterwell and Cobnuts perfect for our much needed break. Harry our Springer loved it to, curled up asleep by the fire every night.”

“Beautiful hidden gem. We stayed in Cobnuts Cottage – a small but lovely spot above the Camel Trail. The cottage sits in its own discrete space so you have a genuine sense of being on your own. The cottage is well kitted out and very pretty. The Camel Trail is a few minutes walk and then you can either stride out to Wadebridge or Bodmin or stroll to the excellent tea rooms to indulge.”

“This place is a gem in the Cornish countryside. The house is located in a very quiet area next to a lovely river. We found it really spacious and complete with all the amenities necessary for longer stays. The bedroom area was particularly nice with exposed timber beams and a really cozy stove, which kept us nice and warm in the evenings. Sam greeted us on arrival and was really nice and friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone.”

“An amazing little, cosy ‘hideaway’ in beautiful surroundings. The log burner in the lounge/bedroom made for a super warm, relaxing week with our two pups who were made very welcome. Lovely, friendly hosts who made sure we were settled. A wonderful place for that quiet getaway feeling.”

“Cosy cottage, fantastic location. What a wonderful find, in the small village of Nanstallon. Perfectly placed for visiting lots of locations, Padstow, Eden Project, And lots of lovely beaches all 30-40 minutes away. Set in the most beautiful countryside. Lovely walks around the estate and a few minutes walk to the Camel trail. Even when the weather was wet, and boy was it wet, we still enjoyed the views and the cosy log burner. Cottage was well equipped and very comfortable. Would definitely visit again.”

“What a gem. We stayed at Cobnuts cottage. Beautiful tranquil surroundins. The owners do not intrude, but are there if you need them. Sam sorted out a fishing spot for my husband, beautiful setting, he caught a sea trout. Kingfishers, owls and another raptor which we could not identify. The cottage is lovely , everything you need on hand. If you want somewhere to get away from the rat race this is the place to stay. The weather was ok while we were there , but we used the log burner because we could. Log storage bbq everything you could ask for. The cottage itself was clean, bed linen of high quality, we will definitely return. Friends have asked to come so we will book the bigger house. This place is a must if you need to chill.”

“We had a wonderful stay at the Cobnuts cottage. Sam greeted us and gave us a quick introduction to the cottage and we felt very welcomed. The Cobnuts cottage was very clean and we were very impressed. We were also very touched by the thoughtfulness of Sam and Rachel who left us some fresh milk, tea, coffee, sugar & oil. It went a long way as after a long drive we were able to make a well deserved cup of tea and snacks. The views are immaculate. We were blown away by the woodlands and the picturesque views and we couldn’t wait to explore it! There were plenty of tranquil streams as you walk along, just simply bliss, so peaceful and therapeutic. You could sit and watch it all day long! We loved the log burner and so thoughtful of Sam and Rachel to leave firestarters and wood for us, what a great touch! It created a wonderful evening atmosphere. The nature and wildlife roam around freely here and it’s absolutely breathtaking. We saw a variety of birds, butterflies every morning. A photographers paradise and If you’re a Londoner like us, then you will appreciate the beauty of nature and wildlife here aswell as having the benefits of good WiFi and 4G. We would thoroughly recommend staying here and look forward to returning next year.”

“Perfect for a couple, lovely for our dogs. We have stayed in Cobnuts on at least 3 occasions. We love the peace and quiet. The dogs are very secure within the front courtyard garden and also in the rear yard where you can dry your washing or just sit in the sun. The cottage is very well equipped and always clean. We enjoy the walks in the private woodland where the squirrels drive our terriers mad, or go out onto the Camel Trail and turn right for the most excellent cream teas at the Camel Trail Tea Garden, or fresh crab salad.x”

“Idyllic location for a perfect break away from the frantic world! Lovely cottage, immaculately clean with top quality furnishings and utensils – everything we needed, obviously very well thought out. More spacious than expected, perfect for two people and very cosy with the log burner going. Easy access to the Camel Trail – steam train trips, wine tasting and cream teas! Highlights for us on this trip were going down to the river every day and having the freedom to roam around Sam and Rachel’s nature reserve, enjoying the flora and fauna. The visitors to the bird feeder in the well-kept garden kept us entertained every day, over 10 varieties of small birds and our particular favourite, the greater spotted woodpecker. Very highly recommended.”

Walk the Camel Trial. Or while the hours away in this charming property. All amenities catered for. Wild birds festoon the garden which you overlook from your bedroom. You awake rested to the sound of birdsong. If you need to leave the property the North Cornish coast of Padstow is a short drive away.”

“We stayed a couple of nights at Cobnuts and had a great time. The location was idyllic – in an undisturbed, peaceful spot, with land to walk on directly outside. The secure garden, out of view of people, was also perfect for our dog. Despite giving the feeling of isolation, the property is not very far from Nanstallon, Bodmin and the Moor. Cobnuts itself was more spacious than we expected and very clean. The wood burner and logs provided were a great touch, and cosy after a day of walking.”

“A home away from home. This fantastic little cottage is perfect for a romantic getaway and really felt like a home away from home (we even have the same lampshades). The kitchen is very well equipped, with everything you would need to cook a full dinner or for a BBQ. The bedroom/living room was very comfortable and cosy and the bed was a dream to sleep in! The garden has stunning views over the countryside and nearby Camel Valley vineyard – a leisurely 20 minute walk and definitely worth a visit. There is plenty to explore nearby and the Camel Trail Tea Garden (further along the trail) is also a lovely treat. The comprehensive information pack was greatly appreciated and we visited some great restaurants on the back of it (Stepping Stones and Bridge Bistro in Wadebridge we would highly recommend). We look forward to returning and enjoying the peace and quiet of the countryside again!”

“Perfect holiday. Well what can I say, I’ve stayed on this estate a few times over the years and in their different cottages, I always knew what I was in for and once again brilliant, the cottage was great and had everything and more you could possibly need and the location is perfect. We saw so many different species of birds and even got to see one of the woodpeckers drinking from the river camel , Rachel and Sam are very friendly and welcoming and that’s it . if you don’t need anything your left alone to enjoy this gorgeous setting, kind of guess you could say we highly recommend it.”

“Perfect dog friendly location. We had a lovely week staying at Cobnuts, an idyllic cottage away from it all. The perfect location for exploring Cornwall. “Peaceful and charming location. Booked the cobnuts cottage last minute for the Easter weekend. Only to arrive and find such a beautiful charming cottage. On arrival we were met by Sam to run through some information. There was a visitor’s book full of all tourist information anyone would need to have a fabulous stay. Would highly recommend to friends and family. Location was ideal for visiting various beaches and villages across Cornwall. I have visited Cornwall many times over the years and have not stayed in such a peaceful spot before. The gated garden area was ideal for our two little dogs; there was enough space in the kitchen for their beds, which is always a worry. Very clean accommodation and loved the higgildy pickldy open plan rooms, and could not ask for anything better for two people. There were enough heaters and during the evenings we used the log fire which was so relaxing. Perfect time to recharge the batteries from our stressful life.”

“Fabulous location. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at cobnuts, so much so we didn’t want to leave. It was our first visit to cornwall and have to say it was brilliant. We didnt know that the sea around England could be so blue. Its brown up north where we are from. Cobnuts was better than expected. Great for the two of us, plenty of room ,warm and a comfy bed. Its great that they allow two dogs as so many don’t. The location was absolutely stunning. the Camel Valley is beautiful. Wadebridge was very pleasant . Lovely upmarket town. Rock had a great dog friendly beach..Camel trail is just across the field. Lots of bike hire places at either end of trail. Lovely beaches with yellow sand, blue sea and views that make you want to stay forever, , quiet narrow lanes and lots of places to eat. Cornwall is relatively quiet away from the coast. We drove for hours along narrow winding roads hardly meeting anyone. We would love to return to Cobnuts and Cornwall.”

“Great and cosy place to stay, all what you need in a holiday. The cottage is set in such an ideal place not that far from all the places to visit in cornwall. It is great for people who love to walk and cycle as the camel trail is on the doorstep. It is so well presented and so nice to have a garden and patio to yourself which is so quiet. A must to stay at and not to be missed.”
