When the email came through inviting us for an evening of wild bake pizza and Camel Valley wine on our doorstep the response was obvious – put our names down!
Camel Valley Vineyard is just a 20 minute walk through Butterwell Estate, over the Camel River and the Camel Trail. It was a fantastic evening which started with a tour from Bob Lindo the owner who is so animated and passionate about his product. It’s a real family run place and all the family were there to host the special evening.
We then returned to the terrace which has marvellous views across the Camel Valley over to Butterwell Farm where we sampled plenty of Camel Valley wine. This was accompanied by some delicious and generous portions of bruschetta with butternut squash and goats cheese followed by sea trout with onion and tomato all baked inside Wild Bake’s wood fired oven in a converted horse box!
- The Camel Valley in Cornwall
- Awesome pizza!
- Views of Butterwell Farm
- Beautiful gardens at Camel Valley
Then for the main event – the pizza. I’ve often seen their horsebox around Cornwall but never tried a Wild Bike pizza – safe to say we are now massive fans! It was absolutely delicious – simple ingredients and a winning formula for the base made with organic flour and local ingredients.
Lewis the owner informed us of his regular locations and we will definitely be back for plenty of takeaways in the future 5-8pm:
Monday: Wadebridge opposite Lidl on the Camel Trail
Tuesday: Bodmin Carpet World, Dunmere Road
Wednesday: Ann’s Surf Cottage, St Columb
