Badger Forest School visit Butterwell Farm for an Easter Holidays special
Last week we invited children from the Badger Forest School to Butterwell Farm for a one-off Easter Special. The event was a great success and enjoyed by the adults as well as the children! It was a great opportunity to share the magic of Butterwell with other local families.
- Easter egg (& stick!) hunt
- Children learning in nature
- Ancient woodland
- Fire circle activities
- Deep in the woods
The children enjoyed searching for chocolate eggs as they followed a nature trail through the woods, spotting wildlife as they went. A roe deer was spotted by one lucky visitor. The trail ended at our fire circle where we did natural easter crafts – making easter crowns from foraged foliage and clay animals which were set to dry next to the fire. We made pop corn and toasted marshmallows on the fire and made dens for our clay animals. On the way back we admired the wild garlic, wild primrose, violets and bluebells just starting to shoot through.
- Easter crowns
- Games in the woods
- Clay animals
- Natural crafts
- Hot chocolate & marshmallows
At the end of the session the children enjoyed helping us feed the chickens and collect their eggs.
We hope to offer some more sessions for local children in the future as they really enjoyed the magic of our ancient woodland area and learning in nature is very rewarding.
Anyone who visits Butterwell Farm in Cornwall will be immersed in nature and wildlife as soon as they leave their front door.
