We are seeing fresh sea trout every day
We are now well into the swing of things with the West Country sea trout fishing in Cornwall on the River Camel.
It was a quiet start to June with brief sightings of fresh sea trout. Although fishing has been light Butterwell got moving following the big tides and unusually big spate mid-month. After a few early losses, including a particularly large fish, we had a some good sea trout night fly fishing.
We have 18 sea trout in the book so far ranging from 14oz to a very fresh deep fish of 8lb. The majority of sea trout were between 2lb and 3lb including some very deep fish in excellent condition.
The River Camel is in excellent condition, slightly on the high side which is still encouraging fish to move through. We are now seeing fresh sea trout every day. We have reports of salmon upriver but have had no sightings so far. We are now eagerly awaiting the big tides at the end of the month.
