Despite the weather (torrential rain) we had a brilliant family day out at the Royal Cornwall Show a couple of weeks ago.
It’s such a great event for all of the family and easy to spend a full day there or even two!
There are numerous tents packed with fascinating and beautiful farm animals which you can get up close to and meet the owners who often have an interesting tale to tell. In the rare breed tent we watched and chatted to a lady practicing her craft of spinning wool. Perhaps we will contact her when our sheep have been shorn this week!
- Tractors & Engines hold Jack’s attention!
- Rare breed pigs Cornwall
- Sam’s dream machine – the “Flailbot”
- Shaun the Sheep in the flower tent
- Getting some pointers for our flock
Jack enjoyed the Cornwall Air Ambulance and was most excited to take a seat! Sam enjoyed the “Wall of Death” motorcycle stunt show and I mostly enjoyed looking at all the furry animals!
The Royal Cornwall Showground is just outside the lovely waterside town of Wadebridge, where the River Camel becomes the Camel Estuary, just a 15 minute drive from Butterwell Farm.
- Royal Air Force at the show
- Fantastic chickens and other birds
- Cornwall Air Ambulance
- Jack loves helicopters!
- It was a long day at the Royal Cornwall Show
With the best of Cornish produce on offer we enjoyed the food tent and even bought some local Cornish duck for our dinner just before we headed home.
The Royal Cornwall Showground hosts plenty of events throughout the year including the Cornwall Home and Lifestyle Show, dog and pony shows, antique fairs and jefferys auctions (poultry and agricultural).
